We Did It!!
We started a campaign on July 8, 2021, for 30 days for the children living at Ernestine’s Women’s Shelter (www.ernestines.ca) and in their aftercare program with a goal of 105 filled school backpacks and $5000 in monetary donations.
We can only imagine the courage it took for these women affected by domestic abuse to flee with their children, so our first campaign focused on investing in caring for children and youth because we recognize their needs are distinct from the needs of their mothers, and we believe in the importance of early intervention to break the cycle of abuse.
“Believe you can and you’re halfway there” – Theodore Roosevelt, and believe we did!
Drum Roll PLEASE… Our results:
151 filled backpacks and $5656.00 in financial donations.
“No one who achieves success does so without the help of others. The wise and confident acknowledge this help with gratitude.” – Alfred North Whitehead.
Two small words but packed with such meaning…Thank you!
Thank you to the co-founders, our families, friends, and communities. The power of community is incredible and the difference we are making in the lives of these children is indescribable. We have given them hope; we have shown them that we care about them; that they are not alone, and we believe they have a bright future ahead of them.
Gandhi said ” You must be the change you want to see in the world”, Thank you to each and every one of you for joining us in starting this much-needed change, for supporting us and our campaign; to our friends and family for their never-ending support, love and assistance and a big thank you and welcome to our new friends and supporters we met along this journey.
